Exclusive Excerpt:

There was a young boy among the prisoners. Younger than Dreron, by far. A teenager. He was trembling like a leaf. Whatever Alrik had planned, the boy would not last a minute. "You may claim whatever weapon you may steal or exhort from any of us. Spill the blood of your peers, fertilize our forest with their remains. The last three standing will have earned their freedom." The bloodbath started. None of the darklings hesitated, begging for swords that the Ironers were more than happy to provide, eager to see them murder each other. Some among the prisoners were prey, and others, hunters. The boy Caim had noticed, because of his youth, fell in the first lot. The smell of blood and the clash of blade against blade awoke something dark inside him, making him want to join in. This was what they were: wildness. But the boy wasn't fair game. Destroying youth was where he drew the line. His eyes followed his progression. He would not enjoy seeing him die, but if he spoke up against it now, he would be undermining the authority of a lord of Iron, one likely to become regent, on their land. The boy stumbled over his feet, missing a blade by an inch. He crawled away, hands around his head, crying, trying to get out of the massacre. He hit a bare leg. Caim lifted his gaze to the would-be murderer of the child. It was a woman, and she had no weapon in hand. Caim watched her bend over, extending her hand to the boy, whose eyes widened. He took it, carefully. She pulled him up to his feet. The woman was emaciated, with dark circles under her eyes. Yet, she was beautiful. Striking. Memorable. Among a crowd of fae ladies in silks, she stood out in her rags. Her golden skin and dark hair. Her eyes. Her voice. It was but a whisper. "I warned you I could not protect you," she told the boy, letting go of his hand. "So stay close." That she'd survived five minutes without any weapon had surprised him. Now, it didn't. Tired and spent as she was, her every move was fluid and precise. A Gaian darkling came from the side with a blade; she tilted her pelvis forward, and the blade hit air. She reached for the attacker's hand and pushed it back into his skull, all the while avoiding another hit on her left shoulder. Water. She moved like water. If she'd had a sword in hand, Caim knew she could have made short work of all the prisoners, and most of the lords, no doubt. But she seemed content to let them murder each other, simply defending herself—and the boy holding on to her like the lifeline she was.

Excerpt: WAIT UNTIL DARK by Kat Martin!

WAIT UNTIL DARK
EXCERPT

Jonah Wolfe was not what she expected.  Not at all.
April's best friend had gone out with him a couple of times so she figured he'd be attractive.  She hadn't imagined he would be at least six-foot-two inches of handsome-as-sin, black-haired, lean-muscled male.  With his perfectly symmetric features, slashing black eyebrows, and brooding dark eyes, Wolfe was beyond good-looking.
Though in a way she was surprised she'd noticed.
With the election bearing down on them, she had no interest in men, hadn't dated in nearly a year.  More importantly, she was consumed by the murder of a man she worked with and terrified of what might happen to her.
She needed help, and Jonah Wolfe appeared to be exactly the kind of help she needed.  Murder was a dangerous business.  The private investigators who worked for Chase Garrett at The Max were reputed to be the best in Dallas.  Wolfe wouldn't be there if he weren't extremely good.
He returned to the conference room with a yellow pad tucked under one arm and two Styrofoam cups filled to the brim with freshly brewed coffee.  He set a cup down on the table in front of her, black, as she had requested, and returned to his seat, stretching his long legs out in front of him.
"If we're going to be working together," he said, "let's stick with first names, all right, April?"
"All right."
"Start at the beginning.  Give me a quick run through of your day, into the evening as far as you can remember."
She took a fortifying drink of coffee, set the cup down on the oak conference table.  "It started off as usual.  I got up, got dressed, and went into the mayor's campaign office.  I had a meeting scheduled with members of my staff to work on poster designs.  Mark is up for re-election in November so we have plenty of work to do."
"I'll need a list of everyone in the office.  Separate the ones on your personal staff."
"All right."
"What happened after the meeting?"
"I took the designs down to the printer to get things started."
"And afterward?"
"I went back to the office.  We had a working lunch and kept going.  We didn't finish till about six p.m."
"So you left around six?"
"Some people left, some of us stayed.  It's not unusual for me to work till seven or eight."
"What about Dean?  Was he there?"
She nodded.  It made her chest feel tight to think those hours were the last David would live.  "We both stayed.  There were five others besides David and me."
He pulled a pen out of the pocket of his jeans.  "I need the names."
She rattled off the names of the two volunteers and three staff members.  "We all walked out at the same time.  Since it was Friday night, we decided to stop at the Derby and have a beer.  It's just a few doors down from the office.  If we're going somewhere after work, that's usually the place we go."
"You and Dean went there together?"
"And Susan, Timothy, Collin, Brad, and Peggy.  Collin sprang for pizza."
"What happened after that?"
"David drank too much.  He's been known to overindulge on occasion.  He needed a ride home and I was the only one with a vehicle parked close by.  My car was in the lot behind the office so we went out the back door and walked directly there."
"So you and Dean left the bar together.  The police will be looking at camera surveillance in the area.  They've probably already found that out."
"I told them that.  It wasn't a secret."  She took a sip of coffee, her hand trembling when she picked up the cup.  She took a moment to compose herself.  Wolfe didn't rush her, for which she was grateful.
"Okay, so the two of you are out in the parking lot."
"That's right.  I remember feeling a little dizzy as I reached my car.  I was thinking maybe I shouldn't be driving either.  Maybe we just should have shared a cab, but David's condo was only a few blocks away.  I knew I hadn't had that much beer, and I'd eaten plenty of pizza, so there was no way I could be drunk."
"Go on."
She touched her forehead, straining to recall more of what had happened.  She'd had a headache all morning.  The harder she tried to remember, the more her head throbbed.
"I got in my car and David got into the passenger seat.  He was really drunk--or at least that's the way he seemed.  I remember reaching for my seat belt, but I was beginning to feel sluggish and I had trouble clicking the belt into place."
She looked up at Wolfe.  "I don't remember starting the car.  In fact, trying to fasten my seatbelt is the last thing I recall before the police burst into David's bedroom this morning."
April stared at Wolfe, trying to gauge his reaction.  She didn't like the dark look on his face.

HATE NOTES - EXCERPT REVEAL

HateNotesTITLE2.png
A standalone romance novel published by Montlake Romance
By: New York Times Bestselling Authors Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward
Release Date: Tuesday, November 6, 2018
Hate Notes coming November 6th Grabbing my laptop, I searched my history and called up the last website I’d visited. Eastwood Properties is one of the larg-est independent brokerage firms in the world. We connect the most prestigious and exclusive properties with qualified buyers, assuring the utmost privacy for both parties. Whether you’re in the market for a luxury New York City penthouse with a view of the park, a waterfront Hampton estate, or an enchanting chateau escape in the mountains, or you’re ready for your own private island, Eastwood is where your dreams begin. There was a link to search properties, so I typed in the name of the place the woman had mentioned in the voice mail: Millennium Tower. Sure enough, the penthouse popped up for sale. For only twelve million dollars, I could own an apartment on Columbus Avenue with sweeping views of Central Park. Let me write you a check. After drooling through a video and two dozen photos, I clicked on the button to make an appointment to view the property. An application popped up, the top of which read: For the privacy and safety of our sellers, all prospective buyers are required to complete an application to view properties. Only buyers that meet our stringent prequalification criteria will be contacted. I snorted. Great prequalification criteria you have there, Eastwood. I wasn’t sure I had enough money to take the train uptown to get to that swanky place, much less buy it. God knows what I’d written that had qualified me. I closed the website and was just about to shut my laptop and go back to bed again when I decided to take one more peek at Mr. Romantic on Facebook. God, he was gorgeous. What if . . . I shouldn’t. No good ever came out of ideas formulated while drunk. I couldn’t. But . . . That face . . . And that note. So romantic. So beautiful. Plus . . . I’d never seen the inside of a twelve-million-dollar pent-house. I really shouldn’t. Then again . . . I’d spent the last two years doing everything I should do. And where had that gotten me? Right here. It’d gotten me right damn here—hungover and unemployed, sitting in this crappy apartment. Maybe it was time I did the things I shouldn’t be doing for a change. I picked up my phone and let my finger hover over the “Call Back” button for a while. Screw it. No one would ever know. It could be fun—getting all dressed up and playing the part of a rich Upper West Sider while satisfying my curiosity about the man. What harm was there? None that I could think of. Still, you know what they say about curiosity . . . I pressed “Call Back.” “Hi. This is Charlotte Darling calling to confirm an appointment with Reed Eastwood . . .”

Hate Notes final ebook cover

SYNOPSIS:

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.” Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true. The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most ro-mantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed. He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after. But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hot-ter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined. Something new. But I have no idea how this one is going to end . . . Hate Notes Teaser

Muffin Top, a hot romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn is coming October 29th!

Muffin Top 1600px.jpg
The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that.
But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me.
That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny… And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk. Next thing I know, he’s sitting down and ordering himself dinner.
I have no problem telling him I don’t need a pity date . . . unless of course it’s to my high school reunion next week. Oops where did that last bit come from? And what do I do now that he’s said yes?!
Because this is no make-over story, and I think Frankie is using me for something. I just have to figure out what…

Excerpt:
The temptation to say “Yes, Frankie, please squash him like a bug while I clap and watch” was so, so strong—like, the guys who pull semi trucks with their teeth strong. Instead, Lucy played along with her best friend’s fiancé’s brother— OMG, that was now the name of her imaginary all-girl ska band—and smiled sweetly up at him. “He was bothered by my dinner order, honey.” “Really?” Frankie looked down at her plate, over to the dipshit, and then right at her. There was no missing the devil in his eyes right before he turned his attention back to the other man. “What’s wrong with what my girl’s eating?” Mr. In Her Business blanched. Literally. The color drained out of his face so fast that he resembled one of those swipe right before and after photos on makeover blogs. How in the hell she managed to not laugh out loud she had no frickin’ clue. “N-n-nothing,” the man stuttered. Nope. He was not getting off that easily. She looked up at Frankie, still standing next to her chair, his big hand braced on the back of it, and said in the clueless voice that anyone with a brain would know meant there was danger ahead, “He said I should have ordered a salad, then I might have a chance to move from a five to an eight. I’m a five because I have great tits.” Thunderous didn’t begin to describe the dark look of pure vengeance that crossed Frankie’s face, making even the freckles that crossed over the bridge of his nose look scary. Mr. Buttinsky made a little squeaking noise that reminded Lucy of the sound of air coming out of a balloon when someone pulled the tip taut as it was deflating. Frankie took a step forward, menace vibrating off of him in waves. The other guy didn’t bother to say a word, he just took off, weaving his way at a fast clip through the crowded bar and out the front door. Lucy liked to imagine that he peed his pants a little as he did so. “Thanks, Frankie,” she said to the man still staring at the departing figure of Mr. Peed His Pants. “I owe you one.” Her ginger knight in well-fitting jeans and a T-shirt made some kind of noise that maybe was a response in the affirmative. It sounded kinda like “no problem.” Whatever. She was used to that from guys. She was only of interest until a hotter, skinnier, or prettier woman came along. It was the universal fat chick cloaking device. Determined not to let it annoy her as much as it usually would, she turned back to her jalapeño cheeseburger, spicy fries, and soda. Now she could finally enjoy her dinner in peace. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Frankie clunked down a three-fourths filled mug of beer on the other side of her table, pulled out the chair across from her, and sat down. Before she could even ask what he was doing, he waved the waitress over and told her he wanted whatever Lucy was eating, plus an extra order of fries and another beer. Once she’d left, he turned his attention to Lucy and gave her what could only be described as a vibrator smile. She named it that in her head—thankfully only in her head—because she now had a desperate need for her vibrator and maybe a fresh pack of batteries. “You’re not gonna make me eat alone now that we’re on a date, are you?” he asked, swiping one of her fries.
About Avery
USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip. She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name. Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs. AveryFlynn.jpg
