Release Day: 1001 DARK NIGHTS: BUNDLE 18!

My Review: It's hard to review an anthology, because each story is its own separate thing. But luckily, all the stories in here were awesome, so it made it a little easier. Of course I enjoyed Kendall Ryan's story, because I love love love her. The Laurelin Paige story made me turn my fan on - which is no surprise for fans of this author. Lara Adrian is an author I've always been aware of, but rarely read - but this story had me intrigued enough that I might have to finally break down and try out even more. I really like Stacey Kennedy, and this novella was no exception. She has a classic writing style that always sucks me in, and boy... Maddox... whew! And Adriana Locke has a great best friends little sister story, which as we all know, gets me every time.

Do yourself a favor and get this bundle today! You get five totally awesome books for one low price. And then when you're done, make sure to check out all the other 1001 Dark Nights novellas - I haven't read a bad one yet!

Recommendation: All 1001 Dark Nights novellas can be read as stand alones.

About 1001 Dark Nights Bundle:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Lara Adrian, Laurelin Paige, Kendall Ryan, and introducing Adriana Locke and Stacey Kennedy.

Five Dark Tales. Five Sensual Stories. Five Page Turners.

MIDNIGHT UNLEASHED: A Midnight Breed Novella by Lara Adrian Return to New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Lara Adrian’s “addictively readable” (Chicago Tribune) Midnight Breed vampire romance series with a pulse-pounding novella of paranormal seduction and dangerous thrills, where an icy immortal beauty and a lethal Gen One Hunter must confront a powerful enemy while struggling to deny the irresistible calling of their blood.

DIRTY FILTHY FIX: A Fixed Trilogy Novella by Laurelin Paige I like sex. Kinky sex. The kinkier the better. Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim, proper girl they think I am. With a day job as the secretary to one of New York’s most powerful men, Hudson Pierce, I have to keep my double life quiet. As long as I do, it’s not a problem. Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on.

THE BED MATE: A Room Mate Novella by Kendall Ryan I might be a typical guy, but these last few years, my love life’s been anything but. From crazy ex-girlfriends to one-night stands who are stage-five clingers, my relationships go bad faster than the milk in your fridge. The only constant has been my best friend Maggie.

Fresh off a bad breakup of her own, I invite Maggie to my guys’ skiing weekend knowing she needs an escape from reality. But then something funny starts to happen. I start noticing things about her that I never noticed before. But am I ready to screw up the best relationship I’ve ever had for a shot at something more?

LUCKY NUMBER ELEVEN by Adriana Locke I’ve always been the person that does whatever someone tells me I can’t. Can’t graduate with a four-point-oh? Check. Can’t win a modeling contract without trying? Did it. Check. Can’t make it in the pro football league? Triple check with an MVP Award on top. When my best friend told me to stay away from his little sister, Layla, it didn’t sound like a challenge. Then again, I’d never seen her before. He obviously wasn’t thinking about who he was talking to if he believed I could ignore her. I obviously wasn’t thinking of him at all when I fell in love with her either.

HEARTBREAKER: Filthy Dirty Love Book 1 by Stacey Kennedy Veteran cop, Maddox Hunt, is all about the job. Sure, there are women—lots of women, truth be told—but there’s no one special. Until a one-night stand from his past, rookie Joss O’Neil is assigned to his division. Suddenly, all he can think about is her. Fresh out of field training, Joss has thrown herself into her job, determined to kick-start her career. And while police work has its thrills, her gorgeous new boss is what really gets her pulse pounding. Too bad he’s nothing but a distraction. Especially since he’s as devastatingly handsome as she remembers.

Every Dark Nights tale is breathtakingly sexy and magically romantic.

Her books are about real people with real-life problems, searching for that special thing we call love…in a very sexy way. When she’s not burning up the pages and setting e-readers ablaze, she’s living her happily ever after with her husband and two young children in southwestern Ontario. She’s a firm believer that wine, chocolate, and sinfully sexy books can cure all of life’s problems.

Review: DIRTY FILTHY FIX by Laurelin Paige!

From New York Times bestselling author Laurelin Paige, comes a sexy novella in her Fixed Trilogy Series…DIRTY FILTHY FIX, a new novella brought to you by 1001 Dark Nights! Grab your copy of this amazing novella today!

My Review: Well, I should not have been reading this over my lunch break, I can tell you that! This was way too hot for my work break room. I was afraid the window beside me was going to start fogging up. This was a great, short, hot read. And honestly, I mostly read it for the steamy scenes, I'll admit that. And that's because I'm not sure this author's writing style lends itself well to a novella...

I read the original three books in the Fixed series a couple years ago, and it has really stuck with me. Laurelin Paige wrote an incredibly deep, complex series... but when she takes that talent and tries to smush it down to novella length, I think it loses some of it's magic. The characters didn't feel as connected as they needed to be, and the drama just felt.. almost flippant.

But this could just be in my own head, and maybe I'm comparing it too much to the epic masterpiece that was the Fixed trilogy.

All that said, if you want a hot, hot read - check out Dirty Filthy Fix!

Cover Lovin': A 1001 Dark Nights classic.

Recommendation: This can be read as a stand-alone. But you need to love your books hot, steamy, and wild - not that that's a bad thing!

Final Rating: THREE out of FIVE stars (3/5). A good read, but lacks the depth I expect from this author.

Happy Reading!

Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim, proper girl they think I am.

Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on. But after a dirty, filthy rendezvous, I accept that if we ever see each other again, he’ll walk right by my desk on his way to see my boss without recognizing me.

Only, that’s not what happens. Not the first time I see him after the party. Or the next time. Or the time after that. And as much as I try to stop it, my two worlds are crashing into each other, putting my job and my reputation at risk.

And all I can think about is Nathan Sinclair.

All I can think about is getting just one more dirty, filthy fix.

Weekly Reading Update 5/20 - 5/26/16!

Another week, another update! Let's see what sort of trouble I got to up this week, hmm?

As always, click the title to get more information about each book!

Saturday was ALA’s annual Readathon, so I spent my day reading an 800 page book - The Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige. This author is part of the writing team Laurelin McGee, so I’ve decided to try reading some books by both individual authors. So, since The Fixed Trilogy seemed to be Laurelin Paige’s most well known book, I requested a copy to read. 800 pages later, I’m still torn about my feelings. These characters are messed up, very very messed up. But it’s been several days since I finished it, and I still can’t stop thinking about it. So that says something about the author’s ability to write a compelling story - it definitely gets under your skin.

I also read a short novella (or novelette?) by Mary Robinette Kowal titled The Forest of Memory. This was a random find at work, and I’m so glad I read it. It was weird, but oh-so-good. If you like strange, haunting science fiction - definitely check out this short book. And by short, I mean 80-ish pages! Definitely perfect for a lunch break or stormy evening. I’ve already decided to hunt down more books by this author.

To finish off my weekend, I went on a graphic novel reading binge. Surprise, right? I read Figment and Figment 2: Legacy of Imagination, both by Jim Zub. I love love love all things Disney, so of course I had to pick these up when my library bought them. They were adorable! I want a Figment of my own. I also read Young Avengers 1: Style > Substance by Kieron Gillen. I’m not the biggest Young Avengers fan, but I really enjoy Kieron Gillen’s work, so I had to pick it up. And it was definitely worth a read. I already have the next volume requested.

Next up was Royal Wedding Disaster by Meg Cabot. Since the Princess Diaries series ended with Royal Wedding (though I will always hold out hope for more Mia!), I have to get my Michael Moscovitz fix in however I can - even if it means reading the diaries of Mia’s younger sister. But you know what, they are legitimately adorable books, just like the rest of Cabot’s work. The first book in this series, From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess was just as cute - and frankly, I think they will both have to be added to my wish list.

I moved onto the paranormal and science fiction route after that - reading The Devil You Know by K.J. Parker. This is another one of the short novellas/novelettes from Tor.com, like The Forest of Memory. It was a very interesting read, with devious characters and the whole selling your soul to a demon thing. After that, I moved onto Rocked By Love by Christine Warren. This is the fourth book in her Gargoyles series. Christine Warren is a go-to for me when it comes to paranormal romance. I have several of her books on my keeper shelves. And I love the direction she’s taking with this series.

I finished off this week reading Creed by Kristen Ashley. I read Knight a few months ago, and it really got under my skin. I didn’t think I liked the book, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.. So I searched out the second book. As of writing this, I’m only halfway into the book (hopefully finishing it

tonight), but it’s already got the same feel. I even dreamed about the characters last night! It’s just frustrating - I didn’t know I could like and hate something at the same time.

Happy Reading
