Waking up in 1958 India:

“Raj Babu! Raj Babu!”

“Help me!” John flailed his arms around like a newborn.

I must be dead, he thought, perhaps on my way to Hell.

“Raj Babu! O’pun eyes!”

His eyes still closed, he felt the touch of a cold liquid all over his face.

“Argh! What is happening? Please stop!” John covered his face with his hands to shield himself from whatever was being sprinkled onto his face. If he was in Hell, which to him seemed like the only reasonable explanation, it could potentially be a fluid meant to burn his face. Yes indeed, it had to be Hell. Why else was the ground beneath him burning? And why was his skin on fire?

“Dimaag kharaab ho gaya hai Raj Babu ka to!”

“Raj Babu!”

“Please…” he wailed as the splashes grew harder. “Please don’t!”

His hands were snatched away from his face and his right cheek slapped hard. John opened his eyes to the sight of a dark face surrounded by a halo so bright that it made his eyes squint. Behind the figure stood another dark figure wearing what looked like a cloak, bearing a scythe on his back. John shut his eyes, horrified, body shivering.

“Aur paani do!”

Slap!

It would seem odd to John if Satan had not resorted to corporal punishment.

Review: SHAMELESS by Cherrie Lynn! Tour-wide GIVEAWAY included!

My Review: I love best friend's younger sister/older brother's best friend stories - and this is an awesome example of why. Shameless is actually a novella, but other than the length - you can't tell. This is a perfectly formed story that has everything a reader could want. Sometimes novellas feel like they miss out on something, be it a lack of deeper characterization or a fully realized story, but Cherrie Lynn fits a fantastic, rich story into this awesome, awesome book.

I also have to say... this might have been one of the hotter books I've read in a while. Whew. I loved the two of them together, and they definitely made my glasses fog up. I'm not too ashamed to admit that the sex scenes were one of my favorite parts... but hey, there was a lot of good going on here. I also enjoyed the teasing and banter between them. I'll have to check out more by this author ASAP!

Cover Lovin': Simple, yet attractive!

Recommendation: Stand alone.

Review: MAKING CHASE by Lauren Dane!

My Review: It's been a while since I've read any Lauren Dane, so I was excited to give this one a shot. The cover is hot, the premise is good, it's an author I like... but it just didn't work as well for me as I had hoped. I had a hard time connecting with Matt and Tate, because I wanted to just shake some sense into them both. If Tate could just let loose for a minute, and if Matt could get over feeling offended at every little comment, I think I would have had an easier time with it.

But I did like the drama.. the drama outside of Matt and Tate's hangups, I mean. The women upset about Matt dating someone that's not them, how strong Tate was, that Matt was a firefighter (yum!), and especially... how important family was to them both. This is the last of the Chase brothers to find his HEA, and despite my grumbles about Matt and Tate themselves, I want to read more about the brothers finding their happiness.

Recommendation: Can be read as a stand alone.

Final Rating: THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE (3.5/5)! Overall, a good read.. but it was hard to fall in love with the characters when you just want to shake them.
