Review: NEVER LET ME FALL by Abbie Roads!!

My Review: I'm going to start this off by saying I did not read the previous two books in this series, and I survived just fine. I think there's some stuff that would have had more of an impact if I did know the back story to it, but overall, I connected with the story and the characters enough that I didn't need that background.

I may not have read this book, but I have read other things by this author, and she is a rock star when it comes to the deep, dark, painful stuff. She knows how to hurt you, scare you, and then thank you when it's all said and done. I can see why this would be considered a psychological thriller more than a paranormal story - I definitely feel like my brain got a workout. And I might even go so far to say it's more like speculative fiction than paranormal - so if regular paranormal isn't your genre of choice, you might still want to give this one a chance. It's so, so worth a read!

Cover Lovin': I love that icy color with that hint of brightness in the middle.

Recommendation: Can be read as a stand-alone.

My Review: Hot rich guy that is too absorbed in his business to really date? Check.
Free spirited woman that has no problem standing up to a guy trying to tell her what to do? Check.
A fantastic author that writes a super hot, and super funny story? Check, check, check!

I was only a few pages in, and I had already chuckled or snickered several times. And then the further I went, the more I laughed, groaned, and became addicted. I've been a fan of Avery Flynn for what feels like forever - ever since she first released her Laytons series (though it was originally released under a different title). She has never let me down. I've loved every thing I've read by Flynn, but I have to be honest with you guys... The Negotiator is my favorite to date. As much as I loved the Laytons, Sawyer and Clover have blown them out of the water.

This book was just.. fun. I loved seeing the two butt heads - seeing Sawyer at a loss for words because this woman beat him at his own negotiating game. I didn't want to stop reading when my lunch break was over, and I was desperate to get back to it when I got off work. It's a fast, enjoyable read that I would totally recommend to contemporary romance fans wanting a cute, humorous story.

Recommendation: Perfect for contemporary romance fans. No prior knowledge necessary.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! Cute, fun, funny, and a truly great read.

Review: TWIST by Kylie Scott!

My Review: I finished reading Dirty, and had to immediately pick up my arc of Twist because I needed more Dive Bar right this second. And I think I might actually like Twist better? It's a very hard choice, people. I love Joe. I want to marry Joe. He's perfect. I mean, he can be a grump sometimes, but he's so sweet and perfect and I just want to have him as my very own.

This was a one-sitting read for me. Once I got past the embarrassing moment at the very beginning (embarrassing stuff is always hard for me to read), I was absolutely engrossed. I felt for these characters. I understood where Alex was coming from, just like I understood why Joe had the issues he did. I hearted the heck out of this book, and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series, Chaser, coming in November!

Cover Lovin': Oh my, yes!

Recommendation: You can easily jump into this book without having read Dirty, but definitely check it out!

Final Rating: FOUR AND A HALF out of FIVE stars (4.5/5)!

Review: UP IN FLAMES by Abbi Glines

My Review: Guys, I can't believe I'm saying this... but I like Nan. She has, for sure, been a huge villain throughout the entire Rosemary Beach series - partially because she's related to a good portion of them, and therefore demanding of her relatives' attention. But I can't believe it. Abbi Glines actually made me feel bad for her. Nan's gotten better towards the end of the series, sure, but she is still a self-centered witch. Or.. she was. And I'm not one for love triangles, that trope has been done to death, but Glines manages to throw a weird wrench into the traditional love triangle plot to make it feel different enough to work.

Nan finds herself torn between Major and Gannon, and frankly, for a while there.. I didn't know who to root for. Honestly, I hated them both, at least a little, and in different ways. But I also saw something good in both of them. I think Major was what Nan thought she wanted, whereas Gannon was what she needed. Anyone familiar with the series knows how much of a handful Nan can be - and Gannon is the perfect foil for her mood swings and catty moments.

Normally, what keeps me reading Glines' books are the characters. I've always found the stories to be okay, but nothing spectacular. But the past few Rosemary Beach books have shown a lot of promise, and even made me look forward to the next one. But Up In Flames had me hooked the whole way through. This was a one-sitting read for me, because I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen, and how everything was going to be solved. And even though this is the final Rosemary Beach book, there better be a spin-off, because what happens to a certain character absolutely cannot be the end!

And for those of you that just keep coming back for the steamy scenes - because yes, Abbi Glines knows her way around some good, hot scenes - trust me, Up In Flames has the best stuff yet.

Cover Lovin': Good. Fits the rest of the series, and it definitely caught my eye while browsing.

Recommendation: As Nan has been a constant character throughout the Rosemary Beach series, and her escapades are therefore widely known - it would help to have some prior knowledge of Nan before reading this.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!! I can't believe how much I liked this, especially since how I have been a Nan-hater since the very beginning. But really, this blew me away. And yeah.. whew, Gannon really did it for me. And he really is the perfect foil for Nan. Honestly, I hope we get to visit Rosemary Beach again in the future.

REVIEW: "Firsts" by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

My Review: This is going to be a tough book for me to review, so I'm going to go at it two ways. Or at least, I will after this brief message: I was invested enough to stay up until midnight finishing this book, because I had to know what happened. But at the same time, I'm not sure I really liked this. But it's not because the book is bad, it's because, well, it's a tough subject. Trust me, it's handled well. But it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Now on to the main event.

I'm a librarian in a public library, which means I am occasionally asked to suggest titles for teenage patrons. So I like to read teen books that have gained some notoriety, so I can properly suggest things. But this book is a difficult one. I can't see it really being shelved in our teen area, despite the fact that this is definitely a teen book. Books in the teen section should be suitable for ages 13 and up - and this definitely isn't. So I thought about if it were cataloged as new adult - but that doesn't really work either. Readers searching out new adult titles would not necessarily like this, and it just doesn't seem to fit the tone of a lot of new adult novels. So, in that regards, this book is a tough sell, and I'm sure it's a nightmare for some catalogers.

And now I want to talk about this book and my emotions - because they were everywhere. As I said, I was into this book enough to stay up super late to finish it. But that doesn't mean this was a fun read for me. I was stressed the entire time. A few times I caught myself shaking with either fear or anger, and I was uncomfortably tense for most of the book. While that makes this a rough ride, it also shows just how well this was written, and how amazingly the author can get the reader invested. But that doesn't make this an easy, fun read.

One final quick note - the villain of this book seemed almost too clever for someone in high school. Maybe all the bad kids at my school were just unusually stupid, but I can't think of any one of my high school classmates that would have been capable of.. what happened. Still, oh man - what a villain.

Cover Lovin': Well, this cover is simple and doesn't really hint at the contents, but I still think it works.

Recommendation: For older teens, definitely. Or maybe those on the cusp of young adult and new adult.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). This book is worth a read. It's a rough ride, but it's well written and a fascinating story.

REVIEW: "Faith" issues 1 & 2 by Jody Houser

So I have been hearing so much about Valiant's character Faith. I read a few Valiant titles and really liked them, so I have been eagerly awaiting Faith to come out in graphic novel form. Well, Netgalley put up the first couple issues as a partial galley, so of course I jumped at the chance to get a sneak peek!

My Review: I've never judged a comic book on just two issues before, but I can already tell I'm going to enjoy the full volume when it releases. Faith is a fascinating character, and I love her narration. The authors did a great job of making her human alter ego someone I can relate to. Actually, I can relate to her super hero self too - at least the nerdy references. I'm sure there were a few I didn't catch, but usually at least once per page there was some sort of sci-fi or nerd reference. So, being a huge nerd, I was in love.

Faith has apparently featured in another graphic novel series before this, of which I was unaware. She keeps mentioning her former team, so I guess I will have to check that out. It might get confusing for some, I was a little unsure a time or two myself, so forewarned is forearmed!

Cover Lovin': I'm just assuming the cover they have for the partial galley will also be the final cover - and if so, I'm all for it. It would definitely make me grab it off the shelf!

Recommendation: Apparently Faith appeared in another comic series, which I was unaware of, so some of the mentions of the backstory flew right over my head - be forewarned this might happen to you.

Final Rating: It's tough to rate this, since it's only two issues and not a full volume. But judging by these two books - I'm loving this. FOUR out of FIVE stars!

Review: UNDER MY SKIN by J. Kenner

My Review: This is the final book in the Stark International trilogy, and author J. Kenner is not skimping on the drama. Every plot twist is another punch in the couple's chance at happily ever after, and be warned - the drama and rampant emotions can make the reader a little exhausted right along with Jackson and Sylvia.

One thing I really liked about this series is that it is consistent. That may seem like a ridiculous thing to say, but think about it - if you have a series and each book has a different feel, it doesn't feel cohesive as a whole. But J. Kenner knows how to write a trilogy (it seems to be her thing, after all) - so she knows what she's doing. Jackson and Sylvia grow throughout the series, but they still remain themselves, no matter what life throws at them - and I greatly appreciate that.

And now on to what I thought was a little difficult about this book - there were several loose ends that have been trailing throughout the series. And while the author does wrap everything up nicely, it just feels like there was so much packed into this last book. Maybe that's why I felt so exhausted while reading it - all the drama, all the ending of it... it was just so much in one moderately-sized book. I'm not saying the book should be longer - just that maybe one less bit of drama would have served it better as a whole.

All of that said, I really did enjoy this book, and the trilogy as a whole. I never read the original Stark Trilogy, and I do hope to one day. And the teaser for her next series in the back of "Under My Skin" shows a lot of promise as well.

Cover Lovin': Fits perfectly with the rest of the series, so it gets a thumbs up for sure.

Recommendation: Interested readers definitely need to pick up books one and two before attempting this one.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). Great ending to a series, but it almost seemed like there was too much jam packed into the last book.

My Review: This series is so addicting, and there's just so many layers to it. I just wish I was able to re-read the previous two volumes before reading this one, so that I can be on top of all the subtleties. I guess I will have to buy them all to refresh myself each time the new one releases.

The plot thickens in this volume, and the gods and goddesses are turning on each other. You can definitely see this volume pushing that story forward, and just who is on the right and wrong side. Or, what we think is the right and wrong side. What I love about this series is that it's so hard to trust anyone because most of them have their own endgame.

It's hard to mention specifics in my review because anything could give away the plots of previous volumes, as well as this one. But trust me, if you like your graphic novels weird and deep, you'll love this series!

Cover Lovin': Fits the rest of the series, so thumbs up there.

Recommendation: You most definitely need to start at the beginning. And it helps to read up the previous volumes to refresh your memory before tackling the new one.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). Great, deep, magic, weird.. and definitely confusing.

Review: WHAT YOU NEED by Lorelei James!

My Review: Judging by the book description, this almost sounds a little Pride & Prejudice like, right? Or maybe it's just me. But maybe that's not too far off. Brady seems like an uptight jerk to anyone that doesn't know him, and to outsiders it might certainly look like Lennox is just dating Brady for the money and fame. So the classic lover in me jumped on this book the second it was offered for review.

If I had to pick something to complain about, and this kept coming up multiple times while I was reading it - it was that Brady was too perfect. This might not seem like a major complaint, but I like my heroes to have some flaw, to feel real and genuine so I can imagine that somewhere, they might actually exist (and like their girls awkward and nerdy, sure!). But even with Brady's excuse for pushing himself so hard, it's hard to imagine a guy working 80+ hour work weeks having the time to work out enough that he's ripped, or to be so good at quite so many things. And while he was so awkward in certain situations, in similar ones, he spoke and continued a conversation with ease.

But as much as that bugged me - I loved Lennox and Brady together. And equally so, I loved Brady's family and the dynamics between them. And thank goodness for the family, because that means we get more Lund books in the future, featuring Brady's siblings, and cousins, I'm sure. It also means Brady and Lennox are likely to pop up again in the future. Yay!

So to sum up - certain people were just too perfect, enough to make them not feel as genuine. But the relationship itself was a joy to read. And I really liked the occasionally-awkward work dynamics, which added and interesting twist to the story.

Cover Lovin': Not anywhere near as sexy as Lorelei James' usual, but it's a classic style. Anyone else think it looks like "Bourbon Kings" by J.R. Ward?

Recommendation: Be prepared to add to your to-read list, Brady has a lot of family that will most likely be getting books!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! Loved it, couldn't put it down. Just wished some people weren't quite so perfect.

My Review: So wow. I just finished this one, and I have to say, I was blown away. This is my first book by author Jill Sorenson, but the name is definitely one I've seen around. And after reading "Against The Wall" - I'm ashamed it's taken me this long! There was so much right about this book. Eric's love of art felt real - not just something given to soften him up, or make him sympathetic. He had passion for art, and you could feel how humbled and grateful he was when anyone said he was good at it. 

This book was just so.. gritty and real. I love New Adult Romance, and contemporary romance in general - but so much feels like it happens in a dreamy, perfect world. "Against the Wall" is definitely rooted in reality, and you can see the consequences for every action they take - or in Eric's case, what he did in the past. If you want a darker contemporary romance read, "Against The Wall" should definitely be on your wishlist. 

What kept this book from being a full five stars was the ending. One of the big story arcs of the book was just left so open ended. It was given a one sentence brush off in the last chapter, and that's it. Definitely not enough! Not when it was so emotionally powerful. Since this novel slightly follows a previous book, titled "The Edge of Night," I'm hoping that maybe Kelsea might get her own story in the future - and the stalker on campus will be mentioned there. 

Before I finish out the review, I want to include my absolute favorite quote from the book. And a super high five to the author for writing this!

    ' "Let me give you a professional tip," Noah says. "When you don't amp up security in front of a building that has already been vandalized, in which female students are frequently targeted with rape threats, you're sending the mesage that their safety is not a priority." '

Cover Lovin': I don't think this cover does the book justice. There's nothing to make it pop, or to showcase the characters.

Recommendation: You need to love your men on the bad side, because Eric is far from a goody-two-shoes!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). Again, the stalker plot point that was thrown aside at the end kept this from being a full five stars. But trust me, even with that - this book is 100% amazing read. A great example of romance that is real and powerful.

My Review: I'm really mad at myself when it comes to this book. Why, you ask? Because I read it too fast. I loved it, I was laughing out loud more than I care to admit, and because it was so fun, I just kept going. This is, for sure, a one-sitting read. And that makes it that much worse. There needs to be more! I connect with this book on an uncomfortable, awkward, personal level. I would for sure be friends with this author in real life. Assuming we could ever get up the courage to say hello to each other and exchange phone numbers.

Every single page of this hilarious and wonderfully illustrated book is something that I have either felt at some point, or needed to instantly show one of my friends because they would appreciate it. I've seen these comics around before, but if possible, they are even more funny when bound together. This book is for sure going on my wishlist, and I look forward to browsing it time and time again, whenever I need a good chuckle.

Cover Lovin': This cover is 100% perfect. You see the art style, and the minimalist color scheme makes it pop.

Recommendation: This book is for anyone that ever felt like a weirdo introvert. No prior knowledge of the comics is necessary.

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE (5/5) stars. My only complaint was that this book wasn't longer. I connected with everything, I laughed out loud multiple times, and I need to purchase this as soon as it's released. A total winner!

My Review: I've had this book for a while. When I was offered it to review, I was in my rock star phased, and before I got the chance to read this, I had fallen into another phase of some sort, and this got left behind. So imagine how excited I was to get back into my rocker phase so I can read this book and fully enjoy it!

I'll start off with what I liked most about this book - I thought the character's reactions to the curve balls life threw at them were incredibly accurate. Everything felt true to the character's state of mind, and what was expected of them. And, quite often, the characters did exactly what I would have in the same situation - which just confirmed how real they felt to me.

I also loved the story itself. I'm a sucker for the misunderstanding. And it goes back to my love of "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie - I love the whole "I made a bet but I'm willing to lose because I love you" story trope. Honestly, if "Sweet Ache" is any indication of the rest of K. Bromberg's books, I will be picking them up in the future.

Now to what I didn't like so much - and this is most likely a nit-picky thing only because I was so recently getting a graduate degree. Quin talks about her thesis, but procrastinates so often. It's barely mentioned here and there that she got some work done on it. But I remember the end of graduate school - it's a big deal. It's basically pass/fail, and determines whether or not you graduate. I know the relationship is the main story, obviously - but don't let falling in love ruin your chances, Quin! Don't do that to yourself! 

Cover Lovin': So, when this was offered to me, I jumped on it - mostly because of the cover. Thumbs up!

Recommendation: While this book is book 6 of a series, no need to be familiar with the previous books! This works just fine as a stand-alone. Though I'd love more from the band...

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE (4/5)! I thought this book was a fun read. I didn't want to put it down once I got started. But what really stuck with me was how real Hawke dealt with the tragedies in this life.

My Review: So I am a huge Bob's Burgers fan. It's one of my go-to shows if I need to laugh, or just for background noise while I'm working on something. And let me tell you, this graphic novel does not disappoint. You can practically hear the characters' voices as they tell their stories. I could even see them doing these skits in a few of the episodes, if they could find a way to work it all in.

My main issues with this comic, and why it didn't get a gushy perfect rating, were mostly technical details. In Gene's sections (the "Gene's Rhymey Rhymes That Could One Day Be Songs"), the print was so small I had to squint to read it all. And anything involving Linda and Bob was maybe given one page, while Tina, Gene, and Louise's stories went on for multiple pages - sometimes several panels too long.

That said, I still greatly enjoyed this. It's a fast read, and a super fun one. I will definitely be on the lookout for more Bob's Burgers comics in the future!

Cover Lovin': I do like this cover, but I almost wish they had gone with one of the variant covers because there were some seriously hilarious ones.

Recommendation: Some familiarity with the show is recommended before picking up this graphic novel.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! Fun just like the show, but some of the little skits were a bit too long.

My Review: So when I saw this book reviewed in a magazine, I was fascinated. Really? An erotic novel featuring a girl acting out her rape fantasies? To be honest, I jumped at the chance to review it because I wanted to read something so controversial. But you know what? This was done incredibly well. Not only are the characters well developed and easy to fall in love with, but the tough topic itself - rape - is handled incredibly well. Vivienne is in therapy, and even discusses her budding relationship with the therapist. They talk about what is and isn't safe. Vivienne leaves fail safes for herself in case something goes wrong, and they work through their issues together. And the biggest thing that stuck out to me - aftercare. Even after a rough "play session" (as they call it), Jonah is kind to her and makes sure she is well taken care of - something missing from a lot of erotic novels I've seen.

I didn't know what to think of this book at first, but about 20% in, I realized I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to see how events would play out. I was worried the book would focus too much on the rape aspect, but author Lilah Pace writes a genuinely good story outside of what's going on in their sexual relationship. Thank goodness I have the second book because I need it after finishing "Asking For It."

This book isn't for the casual erotica reader. And it definitely comes with some major trigger warnings. But I honestly feel parts of this book might help people come to terms with their own fantasies, or maybe even their own sexual history.

Cover Lovin': It both looks odd, and looks perfect. I don't know what to think.

Recommendation: Definitely for 18+, and not for the faint of heart. But all the same, it deals with Vivienne's fantasies and needs in a healthy way.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! So intense, so good, so... whoa!

My Review: This one is really tough for me to review. There is something about Katie MacAlister's writing - most likely the sense of humor - that makes me automatically love everything she's written. But this just felt different, or maybe felt off? There was a several year break between the last Dragon Sept novel (the last of the Light Dragons series) and this one - and apparently a lot has happened. Even being a faithful reader of the series, I felt lost more than once. It's for that reason, I don't suggest a new reader pick up this book - you need to have some prior knowledge of the series.

I was also disappointed that there was a huge build up regarding the curse on the dragon septs, and then a re-appearance of an old villain... but nothing was solved. I know that's because this is going to be the major story arc of the Black Dragons mini-series, but some resolution at the end of the book would have been good. Instead, this book felt unfinished. The only thing resolved here was that Kostya and Aoife did finally express their feelings for one another.

Hopefully Katie MacAlister takes us a few steps forward towards the end of the curse in the next book, Dragon Storm - coming in November 2015.

Cover Lovin': I really like this cover. And no, not just because of the delicious looking guy on the cover - but because of the tattoo. I think the tattoo was an interesting addition. It also fits in well with the other more recent books in the series (the Light Dragons).

Recommendation: I'm not sure that this could work as a stand-alone. I've read the entire rest of the series, and even with that, I had forgotten stuff that happened since the last book, leaving me feeling confused. Reading some previous books in the series is recommended.

Final Rating: I'm going to have to rate this book lower than I've rated any other Katie MacAlister book ever, which makes me sad. THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE stars (3.5/5). The humor is still there. The love story is perfect. But there was no resolution or even a step forward in the main storyline, which was a big let down.

My Review: When this popped up on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance. As any proper 90's kid, I feel nostalgia at all times - and I figured this would hit the spot. I was right! This graphic novel was a fun read to get back into the spirit of my childhood - but with a modern flair.

The creators of this graphic novel modernized it for today's audiences, which seems a little silly considering the people most likely to read this are the ones interested in regaining their youth, not dealing with today's issues and technology. And if you want something that is exactly like the show, your best bet is to just watch re-runs - while the essence of the original Saved By The Bell is still there, this is definitely a new version.

But like I said, it was fun getting to see the old crowd again, and relive (sort of?) my childhood. Not bad, not great, very middle of the road.

Cover Lovin': Not the best cover, but at least it is an accurate representation of the art inside.

Recommendation: For those going through a nostalgia phase.

Final Rating: THREE out of FIVE stars (3/5). Entertaining, but overall, not great.

My Review: I like these "between the novels" stories because it lets me get a taste of Dresden's world for a short time. I really enjoy this series, in fact, I consider it a modern day classic in the field of Urban Fantasy. Dresden is a fascinating character, and his friends even more so. All the wacky members of his family (be they blood related or no), add so much to the series, and make it something special - and this graphic novel is no different. In fact, I think Mouse, Molly, and the ever interesting Marcone make this graphic novel more interesting than it would have been if it was just Dresden fighting the bad guy.

There was nothing wrong with this story. I didn't find any major faults. My only comment is that it wasn't so deeply fascinating and magical that I couldn't put it down. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. Maybe because this story is so short, it doesn't have the magic of the actual Dresden novels. But this was good enough to hold me over until Dresden gets his next book.

Cover Lovin': Looks good, and fits with the other Dresden Files graphic novels I have seen.

Recommendation: At least some familiarity with Dresden is recommended prior to reading this. Background information is included for those that might not be caught up, but there's a lot of little stuff that will leave the reader confused or unsure if they're not familiar with the series.

Final Rating: THREE POINT FIVE out of FIVE stars (3.5/5).

My Review: I probably wouldn't have picked up the first book in this series had my fellow librarian not purchased it for out system. So I gave it a chance, and I was blown away. I desperately sought out the next volume, and when the third came up on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance to review it. This series feels so fresh and different.. and heartbreaking. Well, I think it ended perfectly, but I am heartbroken mostly because it is over. I think it would have been different had I read this in single issues over the course of several months. But I was lucky enough to read it all quickly - too quickly.

People of all ages can find some parallel between Alex and Ada's dilemma and that of the real world - minority rights/interracial marriage, even same sex marriage and rights. And it is horrible to think that two adults who love each other might be unable to be together. This volume sees the end of Alex and Ada's story, and considering the political environment at the time, there is no way it's going to end well. And it doesn't. Alex's life is forever changed, and unbelievably hard. I wish I could spoil it for everyone, only because I want someone to talk to about it - but I wouldn't ruin this for you for the world.

It's a great series, guys... you need to check it out for yourself!

Cover Lovin': Fits the rest of the series. Simple, but tastefully done.

Recommendation: You absolutely MUST read the series in order - which is not really a recommendation, but a requirement, trust me. For fans of science fiction/futuristic graphic novels, or those that love social issues.

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)!!! Wow, seriously. This was a series for the ages. And what a great way to end it!

Review: POWER PLAY by Tiffany Snow

My Review: I'll be the first person to tell you that I am over love triangles. It's been done - a lot. But you know what, apparently there is some part of me that still sees that story line as a guilty pleasure. Power Play is a fascinating romantic suspense with a very tough choice - do you love Parker or Ryker more? On one hand, we have the sexy, clean-cut boss, and on the other hand, we have the rough and tumble cop.

The love triangle isn't the only cliche in this book. There's plenty, for exampe - the boss that doesn't notice her until another man shows interest - but the suspense in this book was worth it. I loved the story itself. Sage was in a tough place, and I was on the edge of my seat while it all played out. The Mafia angle was fascinating, and it made me both excited and nervous.

When I found out the second book featured the same people, I was a little turned off. But considering how Power Play ends, I cannot wait until the second book!

Cover Lovin': Well, this one caught my eye so that should tell you something.

Recommendation: If you still need some love triangles in your life. And if you love some suspense with your romance. And be prepared to immediately pre-order book 2!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5). Some cliches, for sure, but overall, this was a very enjoyable read. Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.
