Review: NEVER LET ME FALL by Abbie Roads!!

My Review: I'm going to start this off by saying I did not read the previous two books in this series, and I survived just fine. I think there's some stuff that would have had more of an impact if I did know the back story to it, but overall, I connected with the story and the characters enough that I didn't need that background.

I may not have read this book, but I have read other things by this author, and she is a rock star when it comes to the deep, dark, painful stuff. She knows how to hurt you, scare you, and then thank you when it's all said and done. I can see why this would be considered a psychological thriller more than a paranormal story - I definitely feel like my brain got a workout. And I might even go so far to say it's more like speculative fiction than paranormal - so if regular paranormal isn't your genre of choice, you might still want to give this one a chance. It's so, so worth a read!

Cover Lovin': I love that icy color with that hint of brightness in the middle.

Recommendation: Can be read as a stand-alone.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!!! Now I have to find the previous books and read them ASAP!

Today we have the blog tour for NEVER LET ME FALL by Abbie Roads. NEVER LET ME FALL is a psychological thriller in the Fatal Dreams Series and available for purchase on all retail outlets!

About Abbie Roads

Abbie Roads loves Snickers Parfaits and acrylic pour painting. It’s her new obsession. The pour painting. Not the parfaits. Though the parfaits would qualify as an obsession too. She spends her days a mental health counselor always looking on the brightside, but at night she likes to write dark and dangerous things—with kissing and sexy times. She loves reading inspirational quotes and stories about serial killers. She is married to her favorite fellow and they have two cranky old rescue dogs that are not spoiled. Not at all. Okay. Maybe a little. Alright, the dogs are terribly spoiled, but they do give lots of cuddles and kisses in return.

Review: THE BASTARD by Lisa Renee Jones!

My Review: I'm not sure I can breathe right now. That ending - THAT CLIFFHANGER! I think I actually made a strangled noise when I realized that was all I was going to get until the next book. But... how will I survive? I loved this story. I mean... LOVED, all in caps, with much emphasis. With a title like The Bastard, and this premise, I knew I'd be interested, but holy cowbells...

This probably isn't going to be a review as much as it is me hyperventilating because I liked this so much, and I cannot come up with the right words to express that. I love Lisa Renee Jones' writing no matter what - she great at making me love or hate the right people, and she's tops when it comes to making me really get an emotional connection. But this book... it might be her best yet! At least until the next one...

Cover Lovin': Look at those eyes!

Recommendation: Cliffhanger ahead!

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)!!! Excuse me while I go stare at the corner and breathe into a paper bag until I get the next book.

I'm the bastard child, son to the mistress, my father's backup heir to the Kingston empire. He sent me to Harvard. I left and became a Navy SEAL, but I'm back now, and I finished school on my own dime. I'm now a few months from being a billionaire myself. I don't need my father's company or his love. My "brother" can have it. I will never go back there. I will never be the mistake my father made, the way he was the mistake my mother made.
And then she walks in the door, the princess I'd once wanted more than I'd wanted my father's love. She wants me to come back. She says my father needs to be saved. I don't want to save my father but I do want her. Deeply. Passionately. More than I want anything else.
But she's The Princess and I'm The Bastard. We don't fit. We don't belong together and yet she says that she needs me. We're like sugar and spice, we don't mix, but I really crave a taste. Just one. What harm can just one taste do?

“This is a bad idea,” she whispers, but her voice is raspy, affected, the taste of her hunger damn near on my tongue. I kiss her, a quick brush of lips, and a lick that has the heat between us damn near explosive. “Still think it’s a bad idea?” Her hands flatten on my chest but they flex rather than push. “We both know this is wrong.” “And yet you followed me here.” “You said that already,” “You knew what would happen,” I accuse. “I was angry.” I certainly know where anger and family collide, in ways I won’t explain to anyone. My jaw sets hard and I release her, putting a wide step between us. “Stay or go, but if you stay, you’re going to end up naked.” “I know your father’s an asshole, but my mother loves him and my father’s company is now a part of this one.” “The part where I said that if you stayed, you’d end up naked.” I reach for her and pull her to me. “You did understand that, correct?” “I don’t scare off that easily. If I did, I wouldn’t be working for your father and under your brother.” “It’s me I want you under,” I say, molding her close, my hands sliding up her back. “I’m too young and stupid for business, but I’m just right to fuck?” she challenges. “I’m warning you, Harper, not talking down to you. And if you’re young and stupid, so was I.” “You wanted to be here,” she says. “Yes,” I say, tangling my fingers into her hair. “I wanted to be here, just like I want to be right here, right now, with you.” My mouth closes down on hers once more, a deep thrust of tongue that’s as unforgiving as my father would be if it came down to choosing her or Isaac. It’s all about demand and I expect her to push back, to give me the rejection that sends her to the door and me to the fucking airport. That’s not what I get. Her hand on my chest doesn’t push me away. She moans and her elbow softens, those perfect curves I’d admired from a distance now pressed nice and close, right up to the moment she jerks back. “My God. What are we doing? You’re my stepbrother.” I walk her back against the wall, my hands caressing up her ribcage to cup her breasts. “I told you,” I say, stroking my thumbs over her nipples. “I’m not your fucking brother. Not now. Not ever.” I cup her face, lean in and my mouth finds her mouth, and if she thought my tongue unforgiving before now, she was wrong. This is unforgiving. It’s in my blood. It’s who I am, who I was born to be. A bastard who wants her. I have this sudden need that consumes me. I shove my hand into the top of her dress, fingering her nipple. She makes this soft, sexy sound that has my cock twitching, expanding beneath my zipper. As if she knows, she presses her hand to my crotch and holy fuck, I need inside this woman. I push off the wall and shrug out of my jacket, my gaze raking over the tops of her breasts. Her teeth scrape her bottom lip, and I want that mouth on my body. I want my mouth on her body. I toss the jacket, rip away my tie, and she doesn’t run away as I half expect she will. She closes the space between us, her fingers on my buttons, working them down my shirt, but when one hand slides down to my crotch, I react. I slow things down before I fuck her and this is over, and when it is, I’m gone. Suddenly I’m not ready to leave, which is why I turn her to the wall, and force her hands to its surface, yanking down her zipper before I pull my shirt over my head. I step into her, my erection at her backside, my lips at her ear. “You saw me watching you across the pool,” I say, my fingers catching the straps at her shoulders. “Of course I saw you. You wanted me to see you.” “Yes. I did. I wanted you to know I wanted to fuck you.” I shove the straps of her dress down her arms. “I wanted you to know I wanted you naked.” I pull the dress down, and with no bra to contend with I have it down her hips and to her feet. I lift her and kick it away, taking a moment to appreciate just how perfect her heart-shaped ass is before I turn her to face me. My fingers tangle in her hair and I pull her to me. “And since you’re here,” I add, “I will assume you got that message loud and clear.” “I’m still angry and you’re still an arrogant asshole, but apparently it doesn’t matter, so fuck me before I come to my senses.” I press my cheek to hers, my hand on her cheek, lips by her ear. “I promise to use my tongue in all the right places to make sure you have no regrets.” She pants out a breath that tells me my words affect her and I’m right there when she does, kissing her again, drinking her in, and damn she tastes good; one part innocence, one part a drug that knows how good it feels. And she does feel so fucking good. I scoop her up and carry her through the living area to the bedroom, because hell, I don’t know, it just feels like I should fuck her on the bed, though I could have easily kept her right there by the door. I want this woman. I want her in a bad way and I wanted her from the moment I saw her by that pool. I set her on her feet and I pull her close. “This is where I lick and you come on my tongue.”

Review: WHISKEY UNDONE by Carrie Ann Ryan!

My Review: My feels! Man, Carrie Ann Ryan hit me right in the emotions. Sure, this book is amazing, just like everything else this author writes, but I really felt an emotional connection with these characters, this story.. just the whole thing. I really feel like the author punched me right in the feelings, and I actually want to thank her for that. I mean, sure, I didn't really *want* to cry, but you know what, I'm still grateful. Just prepare yourself now.

I'm sad that this series is over. It just felt a little different than this author's usual work, more emotional, deeper.. just different. I love pretty much everything this author has written that I've gotten my hands on, but there was something special about this series. These will definitely be on my to-be-re-read list, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

Cover Lovin': Love it!

Recommendation: Each can be read as a stand-alone.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!! Another amazing read from Carrie Ann Ryan!

About WHISKEY UNDONE

Two best friends follow a dangerous and seductive path in the final standalone novel of the bestselling Whiskey and Lies series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.
Ainsley Harris has always kept a secret from her best friend. She’s stood by his side, helped him raise his daughter, and tried to keep her distance even though she’s been in love with him for years. She knows he has secrets of his own and she’s not willing to chance what they have on a possibility.
Loch Collins has hidden himself and his past from the world for good reason. Darkness always comes back to haunt those who fight against it, and he knows better than most. One night of temper, however, forces him to realize his true feelings for Ainsley—for better or worse.
But Loch’s former allies aren’t on his side anymore, and now not only is his life and the life of his daughter on the line, but Ainsley is in the crosshairs, as well. Together, two best friends must fight for each other and their small town, because Whiskey has never burned brighter. And danger, it seems, is ever lurking.

Cover Reveal: WE SHOULDN'T by Vi Keeland!

WeShouldnt_Title
We Shouldn’t
Release date January 21, 2019
A Standalone Con-temporary Romance
#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Vi Keeland
SYNOPSIS Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job—a job I’d now have to compete for even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars—except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine. Chances were, the owner would pay it and be none the wiser. Except, I accidentally broke the windshield wiper while slipping the ticket onto the car’s window. Seriously, my day couldn’t get any worse. Things started to perk up when I ran into a gorgeous man in the elevator. We had one of those brief mo-ments that only happened in movies. You know the deal…your body lights up, fireworks go off, and the air around you crackles with electricity. His heated stare left me flush when I stepped off the eleva-tor. Maybe things here wouldn’t be so bad after all. Or so I thought. Until I walked into my new boss’s office and met my com-petition. The gorgeous man from the elevator was now my nemesis. His heated stare wasn’t because of any mutual attraction. It was because he’d saw me vandalize his car. And now he couldn’t wait to annihilate his rival. There’s a fine line between love and hate—and we shouldn’t cross it. We shouldn’t—but straddling that line could be so much fun. WeShouldnt_FullCover.jpg

Release Day: THE BASTARD by Lisa Renee Jones!

EXCERPT:

“You ready?” Jett asks, coming into the kitchen before I pry Whit for more information. Like, why didn’t he come around much before? What changes did he need to make?
“Yeah. Thanks again.” I hug Whit and head across the hall. Jett is right behind me, his hand on my lower back. I know I should tell him more about my life, but him not knowing is like I get to pretend some of it never happened for a little longer. I’ll tell him everything eventually, just not yet.
“Did you have a good night?” he asks.
“Yes,” I say. I want to tell him that tonight was the first night I’ve talked about Kenzie to anyone who wasn’t Sam, and how for once, I forgot how Sam and I are alone in the life we live. Because tonight showed me that we aren’t anymore. So, a simple yes is an understatement of how good my night has been.
“Did you?” I ask.
“I’m quickly learning that any night I spend with you, I’m more than just good, Charlie.”
I can feel my cheeks heat at his words and I hate how he can still make me blush like this.
I step inside and turn back when I can’t feel Jett’s hand on me anymore. He’s looking over the railing.
“Is something wrong?” I ask.
His head snaps to look at me like he’d forgotten I am here. He grins, follows me inside, and laces his hand with mine, spinning me into his arms as the door shuts behind him. The same hand that holds our fingers wraps behind my back while the other touches my cheek.
“I hope you know that if you ever want to talk to about your family, I’ll always be here to listen.”
I swallow back the tears.
“Thank you, but I’m not sure you could handle the hot mess I become when I talk about it or my life.”
“We won’t know till you try, will we?” he says. Then he presses his lips to mine.
“There’s a lot about me you don’t know,” I tell him, returning my lips to his as quickly as I can. I force my tongue into his and he groans, accepting it, turning the kiss deeper.
“Charlie, I’m going to be honest, if we keep this up, I don’t know much control I will have to stop.”
“Then don’t.” I pull back to look in to his eyes. “Don’t stop doing anything.”
“You’re sure about that?”
I nod without hesitation. I want him. I want Jett. I want everything he has to give me. I’ve never felt like I do when I’m with him.
He kisses me hard and pushes me up against the wall. I push him back; his chest rises and falls as he breathes hard, watching me lift my shirt over my head.
His tongue slips over his lips as his eyes stay focused on me. I unbutton my shorts next and drop them then turn for my room. But he doesn’t follow right away.
“Are you coming?” I ask.
