Laurel

“Margarita with a Patron chaser,” I replied.

“Oh, that sounds good,” Jasmine said, then leaned against the bar and shouted, “Make that two,” at Shane, who shot a sexy grin at her.

“And what were you looking at?” Jasmine whispered, causing me to panic.

Thinking she’d seen me glaring daggers at Dillon and the brunette, I stuttered, but then she grinned, lifted an eyebrow, and tilted her head toward Shane.

“Oh,” I breathed, relieved. “I was checking out Shane’s ass.”

“How’d you like it?” Shane asked loudly, causing me to blush.

“Turn around,” Jazzy ordered, and when he complied, she announced, “Bite-able.”

“We can schedule a taste test whenever you’d like, beautiful.”

“Gah, he’s such a flirt,” Jasmine said, swinging her head toward me and wrinkling her nose.

“He’s totally into you, you should go for it,” I said, repeating this for probably the zillionth time.

Jasmine shook her head, as usual, and replied, “He’s too much of a player. Plus, he knows how hot he is, and what his accent does to us … I need someone who’s willing to put in a little work. It comes too easy for Shane.”


I sighed, wishing she could see the way he looked at her when she wasn’t paying attention. Then maybe Jasmine would realize that where she was concerned, he might be willing to put in the work.

My Review: There I was, exhausted after a long day at work, thinking I'd read a bit of this before bed - no way! Once I started reading Ryder, I had to finish. This was just such a good, fun read that I didn't want to put it down. And it was no hardship - it moves so fast that hours passed before I even realized it. I got sucked in, and I enjoyed every second of it.

This is one of those romance tropes that is a classic, but I haven't seen it done in a while - two feuding families, and a "forbidden" romance. And Barbara Freethy writes a great, believable tale of old family feuding. No surprise there, Freethy is a well known, and well loved name when it comes to romance... and if she's not already in your TBR pile, she should be!

Cover Lovin': Fits perfectly with the rest of the series.

Recommendation: Works just fine as a stand alone.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!! Cute, fun, one sitting read!

  "We're hit! We're hit!" Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook heard the panicked words of his copilot, Michael Valdez, but he was too busy trying to regain control of the SH-60 Seahawk helicopter to reply. Review: CUFFED by K. Bromberg!

     

My Review: A little torn on this one, honestly. I am absolutely in love with the teasing nature of Grant and Emerson - the one-upmanship, the teasing (the scene at the drugstore with the Tampax and Viagra had me laughing out loud)... But I have my issues with Emerson herself. Part of me understands why she's so "only live in the now," considering her past, I get it. But at the same time, that made her such an emotionless, almost shallow character, it was hard to like her. But because this is by K. Bromberg, she made me love everyone and everything by the end. It just felt like it took a while for me to get there.

As much as this book made me laugh, or fall in love, I still can't let go of my dislike of Emerson in the beginning. And I really want to, because there was so much good here. I also want to talk about how much I loved Grant's family - his realistic (and sometimes antagonistic) relationship with his brothers, and the family as a whole. Sure, the romantic relationship between the hero and heroine steals the show, but familial and friendships matter too! And they really add to the genuineness of the book.

Recommendation: New series, new slate! No prior knowledge necessary.

Final Rating: I'm wavering between a 3.5 and a 4 on this one, but I'm going with FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! There was more than enough good to outweigh any difficulty I had, and overall, it was a great read.

Review: BURN FOR YOU by J.T. Geissinger!

 

My Review: She did it again! Author J.T. Geissinger gets me every time. She writes books that are so hot, and yet still so emotional. I will fully admit to this - when Jax told his whole story, I almost cried. I haven't read a book by this author I haven't loved, and while I would have said her rock stars were my favorite, Jax just eclipsed that. I maybe own this as an e-book, but I will definitely be purchasing this in print. It deserves a place of honor on my shelves!

I loved the spark between Bianca and Jax. I especially loved how they actually brought up the whole trope of "slap-slap-kiss." Burn For You is funny, sweet, emotional, and just.. just perfect. If you need a book you can't put down, look no further!
