Review: LUCIAN DIVINE by Renee Carlino

luciandivine-fb-banner-now  Type: Angels, paranormal, The Watchers

My Review: So, you all know I'm obsessed with angels. They're my absolute favorite paranormal creature. So when I started hearing buzz about this book, it was an insta-TBR add. Add in the fact that his name is Lucian - a name I drool over - and I'm fairly positive this book was written specifically for me. I had a bit of an issue getting into the writing style at first, but Lucian Divine quickly grabbed my interest.

If I had to pick my favorite part, it would have to be the mythology that the author created. Angels are fascinating, there is both a set mythology you need to follow, yet so much freedom to make it original. This author does a fantastic job creating the world of a guardian angel, so many rules to follow, such important duties... but that doesn't mean they don't have flaws, need a break now and then. I really have to hand it to the author - I would gladly dive right back into this world.

Cover Lovin': The heads-on-covers are making a comeback!

Recommendation: No prior knowledge necessary.

Final Rating: THREE AND A HALF out of FIVE stars (3.5/5)! I had some issues with the writing style, but the amazingly awesome mythology had me falling in love.

Happy Reading!

Evelyn Casey's life is at a standstill. She's in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It's absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.

And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he's a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he's brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he's brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as ----. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.

For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.

Yes, God as in God.
