Review: THE WILDE TOUCH by Stoni Alexander!

My Review: First off, I have to talk about how amazing this author is at keeping all the subplots, twists, and turns not only straight, but easy to remember and comprehend. Despite so much going on in this book, I never once felt lost or unsure about what was going on. The story is so incredibly complex, but I could always keep everything appropriately separated - or could see where several storylines were starting to merge.

This was a one-sitting read. Not only does this include one of my all-time favorite romance tropes - Older brother's best friend/Best friend's little sister - but it's such a deep, intriguing suspense story. And on top of that? It's so, so hot. Steamy. I'm surprised I didn't melt when I was reading some of these scenes. But it would have been worth it. What a way to go! Melted by Crockett Wilde. So worth it.

Not only does Stoni Alexander write genuine characters, but you can empathize with their feelings of hurt, frustration, love, etc. When Alexandra has to deal with a new boss, or when Crockett had one of his devices malfunction - you can feel the frustration coming through the book. For a new author on the scene, Stoni Alexander knows what she's doing. Both The Mitus Touch and The Wilde Touch were un-put-downable, and I fully expect any more books by this author will be equally so.

Highly recommended, and I can't wait for you all to meet Crockett!

Cover Lovin': Yum! And works perfectly with book one.

Recommendation: The Wilde Touch can be read without reading The Mitus Touch. But personally, I'd recommend the first book since you'll get some useful backstory.

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)! Another amazing book by Stoni Alexander! This might have eclipsed The Mitus Touch for me, but they're both so good it's hard to choose. I can't wait for more by this author!

About the Book:
Emmy-winning journalist Alexandra Reed returns to the DC area with two goals in mind—care for her ailing mom and steer clear of devastatingly handsome Crockett Wilde. But the man who stole her heart, then broke it, is impossible to avoid. As her life spins out of control, she finds pleasure in her secret escape—a sex-play club. And that’s where things really heat up…

Tech CEO Crockett Wilde is at the top of his game, but beneath his calm surface lies a raging volcano. When he finds the monster who abducted his sister, he’ll unleash a decade of pain. The one person who can subdue his demons—beautiful, headstrong Alexandra—wants nothing to do with him. Yet, he’s determined to set the record straight and not let the love of his life get away.

As Alexandra follows a trail of suspicious incidents at the kink club, Crockett seizes the opportunity to prove he’s not the bad guy she believes him to be. Together they unmask an underworld of evil. But it's the moment she goes missing that changes their lives in unimaginable ways.

Review & Excerpt: FULL PACKAGE by Lauren Blakely!

full-package-rdl-header

FULL PACKAGE by Lauren Blakely is Here!

A sexy and funny friends-to-lovers standalone romantic comedy, FULL PACKAGE is about a sexy, witty man as he falls head over heels for a woman, who just happens to be his roommate. It takes everything you love about a Lauren Blakely novel –witty dialogue, smoking hot sex scenes, and heartfelt moments –and puts them into one fantastic book! Told in the guy's POV, with a creative look into Josie’s POV as well, FULL PACKAGE is the laugh-out-loud and insanely hot story of what happens when a sexy ER doc falls madly in love with his gorgeous roommate...and they’re forced to deal with all that simmering desire in a mere six hundred square feet of living space.

"Lauren Blakely has mastered the recipe for delightful and delicious. It's called Full Package. I can't find words to tell you how much I enjoyed this friends to lovers romance with enough sweet to melt in your mouth and enough spice to melt your panties.”

~ iScream Books

Type: Contemporary Romance, Stand Alone, Series-tie-in, Best friend's little sister

My Review: There's a reason Lauren Blakely is on my watch-list. Everything I've read by her has been absolutely delicious, and Full Package is no exception! Not only does this author know how to write some hot scenes, she also really nails the banter between the hero and heroine - making it both hilarious and incredibly believable. I love a little humor in my romance, and Blakely never fails me there. There's just something sexy about a man who can crack a good joke. And while we're on my gush-fest, I really enjoy how these characters are tied together. You don't have to know who everyone is, but if you're a fan of this author and have read several of her books, you will see characters pop up again and again that have either already gotten their own story, or will in the future. And even better - you can jump right in at any time - no prior knowledge necessary.

Another little tidbit that made me more than a little giddy while reading - Josie is a baker, and her chapters are essentially told in the form of recipes. You get a list of ingredients, and her commentary about her living situation, her romantic fantasies, and her love life are mixed into the instructions. So not only do you get a fascinating look into her mind while she's baking away her worries, you also get some seriously awesome sounding recipes. There's a recipe for seven layer bars that I had my eye on, and even one for candy sushi - which I might have to try for a girls movie night. So think of Full Package as an awesomely hot book with the added benefit of a little culinary instruction.

Cover Lovin': I need a towel for all this drool.

Recommendation: No prior knowledge necessary!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!! Loved this, which is so not surprising since I'm a firm believer that Lauren Blakely can do no wrong.

Happy Reading!

✮✮✮FULL PACKAGE is here!✮✮✮

From the New York Times Bestselling author of MISTER O and BIG ROCK, comes a hot & hilarious new standalone romantic comedy...

I've been told I have quite a gift.

Hey, I don't just mean in my pants. I've got a big brain too, and a huge heart of gold. And I like to use all my gifts to the fullest, the package included. Life is smooth sailing....

Until I find myself stuck between a rock and a sexy roommate, which makes for one very hard...place.

Because scoring an apartment in this city is harder than finding true love. So even if I have to shack up with my buddy's smoking hot and incredibly amazing little sister, a man's got to do what a man's got to do.

I can resist Josie. I'm disciplined, I'm focused, and I keep my hands to myself, even in the mere five-hundred square feet we share. Until the one night she insists on sliding under the covers with me. It'll help her sleep after what happened that day, she says.

Spoiler-neither one of us sleeps.

Did I mention she's also one of my best friends? That she's brilliant, beautiful and a total firecracker? Guess that makes her the full package too.

What's a man stuck in a hard place to do?

 EXCERPT:
I turn into the kitchen. She pulls a tray from the oven and smiles. She still wears the date outfit, but the heels are gone. She’s adorable in her fancy dress and bare feet.
            “Date ended early?”
She nods. “When he invited me to see his gerbil, I thought it was time to go.”
            “That doesn’t entice you?”
She shakes her head. “Had he said ferret, perhaps. Alas, with gerbil I’m a firm no.”
“Was it in his pants or a cage?”
“We didn’t get far enough to find out. I said thanks, I need to water the plants, and I got the hell out of Dodge.”
I curl up the side of my mouth. “Guess that explains why Trish didn’t invite me home, either. I tried the hamster line on her.”
She smacks me with a panda potholder. “I suppose I should have known better, though. Earlier in the date, he made a ton of masturbation comments.”
I lean against the kitchen counter. “And that concerns you, since you never do that, right?”
As she slides the spatula under the dessert, she gives me a side-eye stare. “Exactly, Chase. I never rub one out. Never.” She waves a hand over her crotch. “Total hands-free zone.”
I take her comment seriously. “Fine. You use toys. I get it. What kind?” I ask, because I can’t help myself.
She rolls her eyes. “Not telling you.”
I harrumph and grab for a bar from the pan. She swats me with the spatula.
“Ouch,” I say, yanking back my hand.
“That didn’t hurt. And you should know better than to steal my dessert before it’s ready.”
“You should know better than to hit my hands.” I hold both up in the air.
With a quickness I don’t see coming, she whacks me again with her utensil. This time on the other hand.
“That’s it.” I charge her, tickling her waist. “Tell me what toys and I’ll stop.”
She cracks up and flails her arms, knocking me with elbows and hands and the spatula, too, until I give in to her cries for mercy.
I stare at her in our tiny sliver of a kitchen. “Waiting.”
            “You really want to know?”
I nod eagerly. I’m playing with fire, but I can’t resist. The desire to know outweighs all else.
She works the spatula under the bars again, shaking her head. “I can’t believe we’re having this conversation.”
I hold out my hands. “C’mon. We talk about all sorts of stuff.” Then, an idea strikes me. I open the kitchen cupboard, grab a bottle of Patron, and hold it up. “This will help all that shyness.”
She stares at me with narrowed eyes. “I’m not shy at all.”
I grab two shot glasses and pour. “Better safe than sorry, Miss Not Shy At All.”
I hand her one, and she takes it. Then I raise my glass, and the drink goes down the hatch with a burn. She follows suit, swallowing it quickly, then sets her glass down. I do the same.
I rub my palms together. “Toy confessional time. What have you got?”
She arches an eyebrow. “Really? You really want to know?”
I narrow my eyes. “What part of your roommate being a dirty bastard do you not understand? Obviously, I want to know. I’m a guy. This is like Christmas morning. But if this helps . . .”
I pour two more shots then slide her glass over to her. Once more, we down them.
She draws a deep breath. “Since you asked . . . I have a few toys. A little silver bullet. A bigger dolphin. And I have a waterproof finger vibrator.”
And the temperature in me shoots through the roof. I tug at the neck of my shirt. “For the shower?” I croak out.
“Seeing as we don’t have a bathtub, yes, it would have to be for the shower.”
“You masturbate in the shower?” I ask, and the visual is so fucking clear in my mind—Josie under a hot stream of water that slopes off her breasts, a finger vibrator working between her thighs.
She nods as she slides the bars onto a cooling rack. Just then I remember she promised me seven-layer bars when she freaked out the other night. And she delivered. Fuck, I think she might be perfect, what with her desserts and her shower hobby.

Review: A MAN OF HONOR by Miranda Liasson!

Release Date: June 20th, 2016

Type: Brother's Best Friend, Contemporary, Romance, Military hero, Damaged, "For your own good," Just Kiss Already!

About the Book: Former Army Captain and venture capitalist Preston Guthrie has always had a thing for Cat Kingston, but he never felt like he could date his best friend’s sister. Plus, he’s a wrong-side-of-the-tracks guy and she’s a white-picket-fence kind of woman. Yet when they met again just before he was deployed, sparks flew. A fire ignited. And the heat was hot. For the first time, he thought a relationship with her might be possible…until an injury in the war changed everything…

Journalist Cat Kingston had a rough couple of years, surviving a broken engagement and the loss of her job. But connecting with Preston last fall seemed right. They shared steamy Skype sessions while he was overseas—until he was wounded, and cut her off without explanation. Now he’s back in town to be the Best Man for her sister’s wedding…and she wants answers.

Preston’s struggling with a leg wound, but the war scarred him on the inside, too. When Cat pays him a surprise visit and her brother catches them in a compromising position, Preston tells him they’re dating. He’s not sure how he can spend the entire wedding week fake-dating her when the chemistry between them feels anything but… [Description from Goodreads.com]

My Review: You guys know I'm a sucker for the brother's best friend trope. I can't resist. I assume because I don't really have older siblings, and therefore never had them, or their friends, teasing me when I was younger - so, you know, I can romanticize it a bit. So of course, I jumped at the chance to read and review this book. And add to that the fact that our dreamy hero Preston is a military man? Well, I was amazed I was able to keep myself from melting right then and there.

Guys, this book was great. Seriously. I loved seeing Preston fight his feelings, and watching Cat fight right back. Sure, there was some cheese - pretending to be in a relationship to save face? C'mon, there had to be better ways to handle that. But as cheesetastic as it might have been, it still added an interesting dynamic to the story, and their relationship.

But the best part about this book was watching the slow burn between them. Sometimes there were flash-bang moments, when they would collide and kiss (or more!), until sanity brought Preston and Cat back to earth. But it was that simmering connection, pressing them together more and more, that made them realize they had to be together, because they couldn't be apart. That, right there, is what made this book a great read. I didn't want to put it down. Don't miss out on this one. And you better believe I will be checking out more by this author in the future!

Cover Lovin': Nice! And I appreciate the inclusion of Preston's tattoo. Also, I've read several of Entangled Publishing's Indulgence line, and this fits right along with those.

Recommendation: No prior knowledge necessary. But while this isn't technically a series, this author has written a book featuring Cat's sister prior to this.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! An awesome, un-put-downable read!

Whoever this woman was, he was certain she was not a prostitute. His friends weren’t that tacky. But no reason he couldn’t play along for a bit. Even with his bum leg, he’d had plenty of offers from sympathetic young things pining to do their patriotic duty for a fallen soldier. He’d never been that desperate. Still wasn’t. But he’d love a distraction. Love to forget everything for just a few moments: the pain, the hell, the woman he’d left in the dust. The lady in black sashayed across the room to stand directly behind him, where he couldn’t easily turn to see her face. She looped cool hands over his eyes, leaning her elbows on the top of his chair. Raindrops rolled off her jacket and landed on his neck, sending a slight shiver cascading down his back. A clean, delicate fragrance he couldn’t quite place enveloped him in a cloud of scent. “What would you like tonight, soldier?” Her voice was smooth as silk, but her hands trembled, making him think she must be young, inexperienced. She brushed her lips softly along his neck. He would put a stop to this nonsense in a minute, but God, it felt too damn good to be touched. The image that played before his eyes, stabbing his heart with the same immutable pain as his worthless leg, was of another woman, not vampy, not sultry. Soft blond hair, a smile as sweet as homemade sugar cookies at Christmas. More slender than curvy, but just right for his tastes. There’d been a time before his injury when he’d almost believed he could make up for his shitty upbringing and be the man she needed. But not anymore. And not ever. The war had changed all that. That scent. Lavender, that’s what it was. Sweet and old fashioned, a huge contrast to her provocative behavior. Familiar. And that voice, too, once you peeled off the layers of that phony lilt. His heart accelerated, his senses sharpening with suspicion. “Why are you here?” he asked as casually as he could manage while he reached up his hands and curved them around her wrists. Slender, just like hers. “Your friends sent me to show you a good time,” she said. He ran his hands lightly up her arms, stopping just below her elbow. His heart pumped equal parts dread and anticipation through his body. Too many coincidences had raised his spy sense. Her timidity, the disguise, the sweet smell that had permeated his dreams every bloody night in the hot, arid desert. This was no stripper. Or dancer. Or whatever masquerade she was playing at. He didn’t know how or why, but he’d recognize Catherine Kingston if he was blind and deaf. His hands stilled at her elbows. For one moment, he stroked the soft skin, enjoying the forbidden feel of her. Then he tightened his hold, pivoted his shoulders, and sent her tumbling into his lap. The hood tipped back, and he found himself staring into a pair of angry eyes the color of a September sky. “What the—” She struggled against him, but he didn’t ease up. His leg might be just about useless, but everywhere else, he was lock-grip strong. He’d pinned her as easily as a judo master’s takedown. “What the hell are you doing here?” he asked. teaser 1 About Miranda Liasson: Miranda Liasson-2-2 Miranda Liasson loves to write stories about courageous but flawed characters who find love despite themselves, because there’s nothing like a great love story.
